Miami is home to one of the hottest Happy Hour scenes in the United States of America. So with many, many choices, where does one turn? Eater Miami recently mapped-out some of the best. But yet, they missed one restaurant / bar in particular: Midtown’s Bocce Ristorante.
When you arrive at Bocce’s “Aperitivo Hour” as they refer to it (Italian translation: appetizer hour), and one of the first things the bartender asks is “of all the spirits, which do you prefer most?” Then you’ve come to the right spot!
This is exactly what you get at Bocce Ristorante. On this particular occasion, we were blessed with the services of in-house bartender and authentic Italiano, Gabri Romano. After mentioning that I was feeling vodka for the evening, and that I like my drinks with a hint of spice, he came back with his self-coined “Basil Smash” (see photo on right). This cocktail was crafted with Grey Goose vodka, Don Julio Reposado tequila, a hint of homemade spicy honey, fresh-squeezed lime juice and Club Soda to line the top. Finally, to live up to its Gabri-given name, he grabbed a vine of fresh basil, sandwiched-it between his hands and stuck it just inside and off to the side.
The Bocce Ristorante “Aperitivo Hour” fun does not stop there!
From a food perspective, polish of your cocktail(s) with one of their fine pizza’s or something a bit more authentic, like the Insalata Di Mare. This appetizer features some of the freshest calamari, shrimp, octopus and roasted tomato, among other tasty items!
And nothing says Italian like a little competitive spirit! At one of the only spots in Miami, restaurant goers can play their own round of bocce ball while at Bocce Ristorante. I mean, it only makes sense, right?
This sounds fantastic, of course, but how much is this going to set you back? During “Aperitivo Hour”, Bocce Ristorante serves-up various cocktails for $6, while pizzas and select entrees are no more than $7.
In Miami, that’s one hell of a deal! So what’s that they say? “Andiamo” on down to Bocce Ristorante for your next Happy Hour foray!
